Board President

Josh Jarvis

Josh Jarvis has recently accepted the esteemed position of President of the Board of Directors for Partners In Adventure. We are thrilled to have his keen insight and logic as we move forward with programs. He brings great energy and enthusiasm to our board. Jarvis is a born-and-raised Vermonter who lives in his hometown of Milton, VT. He graduated in 2009 from Plattsburgh State University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and works as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Burlington, VT. In his free time, Josh enjoys hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, photography, and playing bass guitar in his band. Josh is on the board of directors of Mentor VT and also does 1-on-1 youth mentoring through Milton Mentors.

Board Members

Pam Burns

Pam has been a board member for 5 years. She is a mother of 3. Her oldest daughter, now a young adult, has developmental and physical disabilities and has greatly benefited and enjoyed PIA’s many programs. In addition, Pam has been a physical therapist for 17+ years after getting a degree at UVM. She has worked in pediatrics for a large portion of her career. In her free time, Pam loves spending time with her family, reading, doing arts and crafts, and playing various sports.

Valerie Edwards

Valerie, a native Vermonter, worked in higher education for the Vt State College system for 26 years. She retired as the director of the External Degree program. She continued to teach online for a few years after retirement. She served her community as a member and chair of the Moretown School board for 8 years.

John Green

John grew up in the Philadelphia area and moved to Vermont with his wife Laura (now the Coordinator for the Adventures in Granola Program!) and son Evan in 2003. He has been a UVM faculty member in the Department of Psychological Science since moving to Vermont, serving as department chair for 10 of those years. His teaching and research is at the intersection of psychology and neuroscience. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing his guitar with a bunch of different musician buddies (a good way to get free lessons), and riding his bike in the warmer weather.

Alison Williams

Alison Williams is a retired ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. She moved to Vermont from Long Island with her husband to enjoy the summers here. They met Debbie, Enzo, and Ari when they moved in next door and learned about Partners in Adventure. Alison was invited to join the Board shortly after and has served on it since. She enjoys birding, gardening, cooking, and keeping up with her seven grandchildren.

Lisa Woodward

Lisa Woodward moved to VT 15 years ago from New York City. She holds an MS in special education and has worked as a special educator for 25 years in a variety of school settings. Within her work, her goal is for everyone to be a member and participant in their communities. In her free time, Lisa loves to ski, boat on Lake Champlain, and spend time with her dog.
